The Kurdistan Memory Programme (the KMP) is one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken to document the triumphs and tragedies of the Kurds in modern times. It will inform the world about the importance of Kurdish history and how it shapes the political contours of the Middle East.
Consisting of an international team including members of the Kurdish community from both inside and outside Kurdistan, the KMP works to record a definitive cross section of oral testimonies in high definition video.
By collecting stories from individuals who have personally experienced key events in modern Kurdish history, especially the Anfal genocide, the KMP aims to bring the Kurdish story to life with unprecedented flair and accuracy.
‘There are people who still do not know what Anfal means. How could they know? They don’t know the story.’
